Partial Dentures

Constructed from several different materials, including acrylics, a metal/acrylic combination, or flexible thermoplastics, partial dentures are designed for people who still have some of their own healthy teeth. Some partials are more permanent than others.

One of the benefits of partials is that they help stabilize the remaining natural teeth. Since these dentures are custom-fitted to the existing teeth, they prevent the natural teeth from shifting.

The number of teeth remaining, the position, and stability of the teeth are only a couple of the factors that help to determine what style or type of partial denture would be best for you. With newer designs, materials, and techniques, partials are more comfortable than ever before. Temporary Dentures

After your teeth have been removed, your gums take approximately eight weeks to heal. During this time, temporary dentures can be used in the interim while the permanent dentures are being made. Temporary dentures can be inserted right after removal of the natural teeth.

Cu-Sil Dentures

This type of dentures comes with open spaces in them to fit over the natural teeth which still may remain in your mouth. They do not require teeth removal.

Permanent Dentures

These full or partial dentures are implanted or otherwise bonded to surrounding natural teeth. A common practice for full permanent installation is for titanium rods to be surgically implanted into the bone tissue of the gums, and then the dentures are cemented to the rods after the gums have healed.

For partial permanent dentures, crowns may need to be added to the existing natural teeth prior to the denture-to-teeth bonding process to increase stability.

Immediate Dentures

An immediate denture is an alternative to being without teeth during the initial six to eight week healing period after your natural teeth have been removed. Peter Feige bases the immediate denture upon impressions made of your mouth before your natural teeth are removed. Your new ‘immediate’ denture is inserted immediately after your teeth have been removed, thus avoiding the need to go a day without teeth.
